5 Actresses Who Were Body Or Slut Shamed On Social Media!

Being a celebrity has its own set of advantages and disadvantages. While one enjoys popularity and stardom, sometimes it can also intrude their personal space. This puts them in a position where each word they say and everything they do becomes a matter of public discussion, and with the recent improvement in social media, these discussions which stayed in the gossip columns have now come to them directly in the form of comments and retweets. Though technology seems to grow, the minds of certain people just seem to narrow down day by day. Let us have a look at five famous and successful South Indian actors who were shamed by the misogynists of social media.

Samantha Ruth Prabhu

Samantha was dragged down more than once by the misogynists. The actress was slut shamed for sharing a bikini image, which was part of her private small vacation outfit. Wonder why few people were tensed for something the actor chose to wear in her personal life when they are totally enjoying her wearing the same on screen. When this was not enough, they body-shamed her for being short, she did give a befitting reply to both statements and shut them down.

Amala Paul

Ever since the actress chose to end her marriage with A.L.Vijay, people have not left her alone. Meaningless and source less gossips kept coming. It got worse when some chose to slut-shame her after she shared a beautiful picture of herself on Instagram with an amazing caption. Some said she should become a sex-worker, and some gave her wardrobe advice. Apparently, there is a dress code for divorced women in India – Salwar Kameez or Saree. Wonder what wardrobe advice is going to A.L.Vijay, if only.

Manjima Mohan

This actress gave body-goals to many after her amazing performance in GVM’s Acham Enbathu Madamaiyada. Remember many girls and boys in theatre walking out telling that being skinny is not the only way to be pretty, Manjima proves that shape doesn’t matter and encourages so many girls to walk with pride. However, for some reasons the actor herself chose to change the way she looked after one of the misogynists told her she has to reduce weight. This is what they do by destroying someone’s confidence.

Shruti Haasan

Shruti is one of the leading actors now in South India. She gained eight Kgs weight for her role in an upcoming film, what was completely professional was also shamed by some mindless people, when they called her fat. They also thrashed her telling she got a lip surgery and trolled her for the same. However, Shruti proved she is not someone to sit and take all this abuse; she slammed all the haters in an Interview and said it was her body and she knows to take care of it, and it was no one else’s business.

Saranya Mohan

This was a shocker. Something that was beyond normal because it proved some people can’t even understand the biological process of child birth in women. Saranya Mohan was off camera post marriage and recently gave birth to her first child. A picture of the actress post maternity came around on the Internet and some people made way too big a deal after seeing it. Saranya had put on weight due to pregnancy, a normal occurrence in every mother-to-be, but for some it was wrong, they body-shamed her and of course, got a befitting reply from the couple.

Not all celebrities keep quiet to this misogyny; some make it a point to shut down their haters. We hope more and more celebrities’ voice out; because now one can be filed under Right to Privacy Act, so haters, beware.
