It is not often we see actresses taking up traditional roles. To pull off a traditional character is very difficult, and involves a lot of dedication. A glamorous role can be done by any heroine, but a traditional role deserves more care.
Here are 5 actresses who have taken up traditional roles and did a great job of it:
Anushka in Om Namo Venkatesaya
Anushka is always known to take up different roles. In Om Namo Venkatesaya, Anushka plays the role of Krishnamma, an ardent devotee of Lord Venkateswara. She believes that she is the wife of the Tirumala God and dedicates her entire life to him.
Trisha in Saamy
Trisha, who is used to glamorous roles, played a college-going Brahmin girl, Bhuvana in Saamy. Her character in Saamy was very naïve and sweet. We can only wait for the release of Saamy 2.
Asin in Dasavatharam
Asin’s role in Dasavatharm was very different and extremely cultural. She plays the role of a staunch Brahmin named Andal in the movie. Andal is innocent and completely devoted to Lord Vishnu.
