11 Dosa Varieties That You Must Try Today!

Dosas are everyone’s favorite and why just have them in the traditional format? Spice them up with these interesting options and enjoy a great meal! 

 

CARROT DOSA

 

To make carrot dosa, grind soaked red chillies, chopped carrots into a paste and mix it with the normal dosa batter. Then heat tawa to make dosas and top it with some grated carrot. Viola!

 

PANEER MASALA DOSA

 

Paneer Masala dosa is a favorite among many and very easy to make. Have some left over paneer gravy? Make it into an interesting breakfast or dinner dish with paneer dosas! Stuff in some generous amount of panner subzi into the dos and enjoy!

 

RAGI WHEAT DOSA

 

Ragi and wheat dosa is a healthy breakfast fix. Mix one cup of ragi flour, one cup wheat flour with buttermilk and bring it to dosa batter consistency. Leave it overnight and make dosas the next day.

 

ANDHRA PESARATTU

 

An authentic Andhra recipe, this dosa is made with the goodness of green gram. Soak moong dal for an hour and grind it coarsely. Mix in the chillies, salt, coriander and onions and enough batter to make a dropping consistency. Serve dosas with coconut chutney.

 

MANCHURIAN DOSA

 

Popular in Mumbai, first prepare the manchurian in a pan. Then make plain dosa on hot tawa, add the manchurian and top it with some veggies. Cover it with a lid, until cooked and roll the dosa topping it with some cheese.

 

NEER DOSA

 

A traditional delicacy from Karnataka, Neer dosa is a thin, crisp dosa made with runny rice batter. Best served with fish curry, this dish can also be made with mixing coconut water with rice flour.

 

EGG DOSA

 

Egg dosa is a great option for quick breakfast. There are many ways to make an egg dosa. You can either mix some of the batter with an egg, add onions and chilli and make the dosa. Or spread batter on a hot tawa and break an egg in the center and flip it to cook it properly. Or you can make scrambled eggs and stuff it inside the dosa.

 

MULTI-GRAIN DOSA

 

For a great Sunday breakfast, Multigrain Dosa and hot Sambar can be a great combination. Soak Rice, Urad Dal, Toor Dal, Moong Dal, Masoor Dal and Fenugreek seeds in water for 4-5 hours. Grind these ingredients along with soaked Red Chillies, Ginger-Garlic, Salt and Asafoetida and make fine paste. Add some more water in it and then make dosas with this batter.

 

ONION RAVA DOSA

 

Mix the rice flour and rava with some water and mix till its a smooth batter. Add the asafoetida, cumin seeds and salt. Cover and leave it for a few hours to ferment. Mix the chopped onions, green chillies, ginger, cashew nuts and black pepper in a bowl and keep it aside. Sprikle the mixture after spreading the batter on a hot tawa. Serve with chutney and sambar.

 

CHILLI CHEESE DOSA/ PIZZA DOSA

 

Add some chillies and sprikle it with some cheese while making the dasa. Then you may roll it into a dosa or cut it like a pizza!

 

MYSORE MASALA DOSA

 

Mysore masala dosa is famous across the country. This dosa, has a layer of special chutney applied to the surface of the dosa and then stuffed with potato masala. It is crisp, spicy and mouth watering!
