Zomato Delivery Boy Who Ate Customer’s Food Has Been Fired

Video of food delivery boy consuming from package goes viral

Everyone is used to ordering food online. The idea is to save time, yet have a clean and hygienic meal being delivered at our doorstep. However, in a recent video that surfaced online shows a Zomato delivery boy consuming food that was supposed to be delivered for a customer. This has brought the online food ordering platform under fire.

In the two-minute video, the delivery boy is seen eating some of the food in the containers and then resealing the packages and putting them back into the delivery bag. This video has been widely shared on social media, with some even making memes out of it. Many users are also expressing concern over the service provider.

Without further complications, Zomato responded with a blog post saying that the matter will be investigated. They called it a ‘rare and unusual case’.

The Zomato delivery boy has since been fired. The internet, meanwhile, is feeling bad for the person to lose his job only because he was hungry.

Zomato in their statement wrote: “We have found that the video was shot in Madurai; the person in the video is a delivery partner on our fleet. We have spoken to him at length – and while we understand that this was a human error in judgement, have taken him off the platform. Additionally we will educate our delivery fleet of over 1.5 lakh partners to highlight or escalate any such deviations, while also encouraging our users, the custodians of our platform, to highlight the smallest anomalies.”

Zomato shared a statement and a blog post which said, “If true, this is unfortunate and not in line with our beliefs. We take this very seriously and will soon introduce tamper-proof tapes, and other precautionary measures to ensure we safeguard against this.”
