Nupur and Rajesh Talwar were convicted for the killing of their daughter Aarushi Talwar and their domestic help Hemraj. Nupur was granted a three-week parole from the Allahabad High Court in between as well.
Her release was considered and ordered by justices B K Narayana and A K Mishra following a plea that her mother was unwell and all her siblings were abroad. The court agreed to the plea stating she may take care of her mother until the siblings return.
Nupur and Rajesh Talwar were accused of a double murder, of their daughter Aarushi and the domestic help Hemraj. While reports suspected that the domestic help Hemraj killed Aarushi, the case took a turn when Hemraj’s body was found two days later from the terrace of the same flat.
The case which was first investigated by the Noida Police was transferred to the CBI, who found the couple guilty and sentenced them to life imprisonment for five years after an investigation.
The Allahabad high court has now acquitted Rajesh and Nupur Talwar on Thursday of killing their daughter Aarushi and domestic help Hemraj in 2008.
The couple was awarded life sentence by a special CBI court in Ghaziabad on November 26, 2013, a day after their conviction. They had later appealed the decision.
