Actor Dhanush Production House, Wunderbar Productions filed a Writ Petition against the GST intelligence’s Directorate General. It was said that Rs2.59 crores of service tax were demanded from the production house.
The Directorate General issued a show cause notice to the Production house demanding tax under ‘Copyright services’. Wonderbar Production’s Vinod Kumar filed an Affidavit which stated that service tax cannot be demanded if the copyright owner had transferred the right permanently. It was also said that the Directorate General had come to a wrong conclusion that the production house has transferred the right permanently only to evade tax.
Also, reportedly, Wunderbar Productions had transferred the copyright only for selected movies. Actor Dhanush is busy with his projects including The Extraordinary Journey of The Fakir, Maari 2 and Vada Chennai.
