St Mary’s high school, Pathnamthitta, an aided school ordered its teachers to wear coats over sarees. After Beena, a teacher of the school refused to do so the school management demanded an explanation from her about the same. Beena approached the Kerala Women’s Commission which has come out to say teachers cannot be forced to wear coats over sarees and that the school had no power to give such directions which goes against the government circulars, commission member Shahida Kamal said in her order.
