It is imperative to understand that it isn’t a crime to click a picture of yourself, especially when you feel like belting out your swagger on a good hair day. This does not make you a person who seeks constant validation or a narcissist. Studies have shown that posting selfies on social media forums helps in boosting self confidence (these websites don’t exist only to understand your views on politics or social stigmas.) Caution: Overdoing it may lead to countless negative comments on how you lack a life outside of the rims of a smartphone and of course constant shutter noises may lead to violence.
Let the lighting strike
Selfies and Shah Rukh Khan cannot exist without their respective lights. Make sure that a pleasant glow surrounds your face when the picture is being taken. Add filters such as black and white, chrome or kelvin to jazz up your picture. If your idea of fun is a goofy clip art or memes besides you in the picture then pin it up and let the crazies fly. Selfies are all about freeing oneself from inhibitions.
Angle mangle
Choosing an angle that flatters you is pivotal—or let’s face it, you are in a fix. Favourites include the top angle, half face and the hit me or straight angle. For a single selfie: the top angle works best as it accentuates your features and provides the right view of your plunging neckline; for a groupie: the straight angle or half face works better as it covers more of the group. Pocket full of poses
Cringe, purse, wink or make the duck face. Strike a pose to enhance your self-photograph experience. Choices can wary. Show your geek side by being Spock or advocate world peace. Using a brand new pair of aviators or a sexy red lipstick, create a dramatic aura and unlock new achievements.
Background blues:
Monochrome colours or plush outdoor scenes add volume to your click. Choose a suitable background that doesn’t steal your spotlight, but provides the right balance to your look. It also serves as a brilliant prop. Grab a flower or pose against a dilapidated wall and watch your selfie score points.
Tell yourself that it isn’t wrong to admire oneself from time to time. “But first, let me take a selfie” sang the Chainsmokers and that is exactly what you should do too. And remember, if your selfies are not in sight, then you ain’t doing it right.
