Lakme Fashion Week Festive Winter 2019 Highlights

The Finale: Actress Kareena Kapoor closed fashion mega-event – the Lakme Fashion Week – as she walked the ramp for designer label Gauri & Nainika in a stunning black ensemble. The festive collection featured most importantly SATIN. A red satin gown featuring off shoulder with a dramatic bow, satin LBD, Pink crunched satin midi and more.

Take on sustainability: The fashion industry has had its grey area specially in promoting fast-fashion. With the environment at its deteriorating state Eco fashion is on a raise with many designers pledging sustainability. At the recently concluded Lakmé Fashion Week , the Union Minister of Textiles, Smriti Zubin Irani, launched Project SU.RE in association with the Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI); the United Nations in India; and IMG Reliance, organisers of LFW. The project brings together big brands like the Future Group, Shopper’s Stop, Aditya Birla Retail, Arvind Brands, Lifestyle, Max, Raymond, House of Anita Dongre, W, Biba, Westside, Levi’s, Bestsellers and Trends, among others to adapt a more ethical way of mass production.

PET Bottles to Gorgeous gowns: Lisa Haydon looked stunning with a high-slit geometric winged-saree gown as she stride the runway for  designer Amit Aggarwal. The futuristic collection was made with new-age, sustainable synthetics.which was nothing but recycled plastic bottles.

Stars in Ramp: Bollywood actresses Kareena Kapoor, Lisa Haydon, Pooja Hegde, Diana Penty  and more walked the ramp of the Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2019. Ananya Panday, Tara Sutaria  made their runway debuts. Genila took to the ramp again after five years.
