Infosys employee Rasila Raju OP was found dead inside the campus of Infosys, Pune, on the ninth floor of the Offshore Dedicated Centre (ODC) room. Police have told that it was the security guard who killed her. The 24 – year – old had joined Infosys six months back after she completed her training in Mysore.
The guard killed her in a fit of anger and revenge as she scolded him for staring at her. She also warned him saying that she will file a complaint to the security officer if he misbehaves. Angered by her warning and reprimanding, Sikiya committed the crime.
Police caught hold of the CCTV footage of a 27 – year – old Bhaben Bharali Sikiya, a security guard, who was continuously entering and exiting the ODC room when only authorised employees have access to it. She was also working alone in the room. He entered a number of times between 5pm to 7pm which is suspected to be the time of murder.
When Sikiya tried to flee back to his native place in Assam at around 3 AM, the Police caught hold of him. Vaishali Jadhav – Mane, the assistant commissioner of Police, in an interview with Times Of India, said, “He kept the door open to enter and exit the room two or three times. The last time he entered the room, he closed the door from inside and strangulated Rasila with a LAN cable and kicked her repeatedly on the face. He left the room using her access card. He even completed his shift around 7pm and left the campus.”
Infosys also issued a press release following the death of Rasila, which said:”We are saddened and shocked at this unfortunate incident and the loss of our colleague. Our prayers and sympathies are with our employee’s family and friends. We are focused on assisting the police with their investigation and providing all possible support to her family.”
