8 Locations Made Famous By Movies

BEKAL FORT

Situated in Kasaragod district in Kerala was made famous after the song Uyire Uyire from the movie Bombay was shot there.

 

 

ATHIRAPPILLY FALLS

This amazing waterfall in Kerala has been used in many movies. Notably, in the movie, Raavanan, where Aishwarya Rai jumps off a falls. The entire sequence was shot here.

 

 

HIDIMBA DEVI TEMPLE

This temple in Manali became famous after the iconic scene in Roja where Arvind Swamy gets kiddnapped by terrorists from this temple. Madhubala visits this temple often in the movie and is also where she meets Janagaraj.

 

GUNA CAVES

As the name says it, these caves where named after the movie Guna became a blockbuster hit. The caves played an essential part of the Kamal Hassan starrer movie.

 

HOGENAKKAL FALLS

Hogenakkal Falls situated in the Southern district of Tamil Nadu, Dharmapuri. The waterfall called the Niagara of India has been used as location in many South Indian movies. Some scenes from Raavanan and Roja were shot here.

 

 

MAHESHWAR TEMPLE

Masheshwar temple and fort in Madhya Pradesh has also been used by Cine Industry and made use of the fort’s picturesque location. The song Snegithane from Alaipayuthey was shot here too.

 

THIRUMALAI NAYAKAR MAHAL

This Mahal in Madurai has been used in too many song sequences. This beautiful place is a visual treat.

 

 

MELUKOTE TEMPLE

 

The Rayagopura of the Melukote Temple in Karnataka has also seen many movie shootings. There’s one sequence from the Thiruda Thiruda and there is the song Rakkamma from Thalapthi which was shot here. Also, Nannare from Guru was filmed here.
