Our parents always take our side in difficult situations, whether they agree with you or not. However, there’s a brigade of uncles, aunts and cousins who will leave no stone unturned when it comes to criticizing you. Right from the field of education you choose or the profession you get into, they have an opinion on everything. While there are some hundred of ridiculous things they say, here are some of them that we face.
- That one aunt who is a secret agent of matrimonial websites and always has a marriage proposal that she sends your parents. God, that torture is just too much to take.
- Grandmas who tell you,”The way to a man’s heart is his stomach.” No way! This isn’t 1920 and you aren’t a glorified cook. Yes, someone cooking for us makes all of us happy and eating, a lot more. Cooking is just not a woman’s job. This Granny advise should now be in the history books.
- Those family get-togethers when your cousins discuss that one stupid and the most embarrassing thing you’ve done when you were 6 years-old! Duh! Especially if you have brought along your boyfriend/girlfriend, that can be super embarrassing.
- When one of your relatives decides to be Sherlock Holmes; It can’t get worse. Imagine you were on a date and your relative bumps into you? By the time you get home, your parents already know all about it. Thanks you uncle Sherlock!
- When you aspire to reach great heights in your career and education, there will always be this one relative, who will tell your parents, “Why do you want to spend on higher education of your daughter? She’ll be married soon and it makes no sense.” Don’t believe us? There are many such relatives.
- Did you add your relatives on Facebook? Wow! You should be given the bravery award! Imagine having a beach day with your bae and one of them leaving a ridiculous comment on your pictures? No way!
- When one of your uncle or aunt advises your parents, not to give you such freedom or you’ll either elope with some guy they don’t know or you’ll bring ‘shame’ to the family. They’ll have opinion on everything; right from how you dress, who your friends are and everything under the sun!
Beware of such relatives and keep your parents in confidence! They’ll take care for the rest!
