Mahendra Baahubali
Mahendra Baahubali wears a serpent symbol for his tilak. The serpent is a favored creature by Lord Shiva. The serpent symbolizes Mahendra’s devotion for the Lord. It is said that Mahendra was even considered as an incarnation of Lord Shiva.
Kattappa
Kattappa’s tilak symbolizes his slavery. He is tied down to be forever loyal to the Mahishmati throne.
Sivagami
Sivagami’s complete red circled bindi represents her power. She is the queen-mother of Mahishmati. Her bindi symbolizes bravery and equality. The bindi is like a blazing sun, just like how Sivagami is. She is the sun of her kingdom, and everything revolves around her.
Bijjala Deva
Bijjala Deva adorns the symbol of a Trishul (trident) on his forehead. The Trishul is the weapon of Lord Shiva. The three spears of the Trishul represent the three Gunas- Shiva, Brahma, and Vishnu. It also symbolizes creation, maintenance, and destruction.
Bhallala Deva
Bhallala Deva wears a tilak of a rising sun. Unlike his mother, Sivagami, he has not yet risen completely. His aims to rule the Mahishmati kingdom one day is represented by his tilak.
Amarendra Baahubali
Amarendra Baahubali’s tilak is that of a half moon. While moons in common represent tranquility, the crescent moon symbolizes balance. Just like his tilak, Amarendra is a calm and wise man. He is well-balanced in nature.
Devasena
The bindi on Devasena’s forehead is a combination of the male and female symbols. It symbolizes her boldness accompanied with her beauty. She is as strong as a man and graceful like a woman. She is the element of gender equality.
