7 Alternate Ways to Junk Food : #JunkFoodDay!

Is there anything known as healthy junk food? Well, junk food gets its name because it basically is low on nutritional value. It does more harm than good to your body. But the comfort that junk food brings to one is irreplaceable. One can never imagine replacing a tub of double chocolate ice cream with some frozen yogurt. What if we say that there are ways to switch a little and get yourself a healthier option to your junk binge mood? Here are 7 simple ways to go the alternate way:

Chips and Wafers

Potato wafers or chips can be substituted with the baked varieties of the same. To get an even more healthier option, you could make chips of various other vegetables to up the nutrition quotient. Once in a while a bag of wafers is harmless, but if you like to munch on crispies more than often, then vegie chips is good for one’s wellness.

Chocolates

Chocolates are good and bad, good because they release the good happy hormone in our body and bad because of the calories. Make a healthier choice of opting for dark chocolates, nuts covered in chocolates or dried fruits dipped in chocolates which are the same as chocolate yet better for your system.

Ice Cream

Ice Creams are described as the most comforting forms of food, whether it is a break up, a painful fracture, a stressful job- ice cream can melt mountains. While everyone knows how unhealthy a tub of ice cream can be, we all seem to indulge in it more than often. 210 calories, studies have shown that ice cream contains more than that. A less unhealthy way is to get yourself some vanilla flavoured ice cream instead of the choco chip. This ensures a lesser calorie count and a better way to spoil yourself.

Pizza

A single slice of pizza contains above 285 calories and we never have one, so in one sitting of pizza binging, you end up consuming about 1000 calories or more. Ensure a less calorie count by replacing your usual order with a thin crust pizza. This automatically reduces the flour content in your pizza and makes for  a healthy meal.

Cupcakes and muffins

Flour and chocolate have been proven to have the highest calorie count. So naturally, muffins have a high calorie count. Just a simple shift from chocolate to something as healthy and nutritious as oats and blueberries will  satisfy your sugar craving and also not be harmful.

French Fries

Carbohydrates and that too deep fried, this is by far the most unhealthy junk food. Some people have switched over to sweet potato fries, which is definitely a healthier option. Sweet potato belongs to the potato family, hence the taste will be similar but the nutrition content higher. Another alternative is to bake your potato fries or fry them in an air fryer.

Pastas

Pastas could be made healthier in a jiffy, with just choosing whole-wheat pasta instead of the flour ones. Make it even healthier by adding mushrooms, tomatoes, zucchini with a generous amount of cheese. For non veg lovers, some roasted chicken or prawns will go best. Get yourself a side of multi-grain garlic bread and your meal is ready.
