Andrea Jeremiah
Joining the long list of actresses playing police officers is Andrea. She dons khaki in her next which has Ashutosh Rana, KS Ravikumar, Manobala, Aadukalam fame Naren in the cast. The movie is produced by Rajesh Kumar and is directed by Dil Sathya, who had earlier helmed a Kannada film Dil, which turned out to be a blockbuster. It is an action thriller with fantasy. The movie will be canned in Cochin, Baroda, and Jaipur. Andrea played an army personnel in Vishwaroopam.
Nayanthara

This actress who has been acting in woman-centric roles in the recent past has played a tough cop in Imaikka Nodigal. Nayanthara played the role of CBI officer Anjali, who goes hunting for a serial killer while attempting to save countless lives. Vijay Sethupathi played her husband. Her role and screen presence in the movie has been widely acclaimed.
Jyothika

After making a comeback with 36 Vayadhinile as a doting mother who tries to create an identity for herself within her family, Jyothika played a strong police role in Bala’s Naachiyaar. This was unexpected of her and it caught everyone’s attention when in the teaser, Jyothika swore as part of her role. Although she had played negative roles in Pachchaikili Muthucharam and Chandramukhi, this cop avatar was one of its kinds.
Kajal Aggarwal

After wowing everyone with the girl next door looks in several movies, Kajal Aggarwal played a cop alongside Vijay in the movie Jilla. She also got to do some action sequences in it and it was reported that the actress underwent some training for the purpose.
Sneha

The punnagai arasi of Tamil cinema played a cop in Bhavani IPS. A bilingual, Tamil and Telugu, the movie had her kick the bad guys. This was the first time Sneha took up an action movie. It was directed by G Kicha and was the remake of Vyjayanthi IPS played by Vijayashanti. To suit the role, Sneha also took up Karate and riding lessons.
Vijayshanti
Vijayshanthi, after a successful career with all top male stars in Tamil and Telugu, took the Khaki route. She has a glorious inning doing several cop films. She was the first women from the south to do women-centric movies. She made a name for herself by playing roles of police officers in several movies. Her biggest hit was the Telugu movie Kartavyam, which was dubbed in Tamil as Vyjayanthi IPS. The movie was said to be an inspiration from the life of Kiran Bedi.
Anushka Shetty
Anushka Shetty is known for playing strong roles and has been part of several action movies. She appears as a powerful cop in the movie Bhagamathie. She plays an IAS Officer Chanchala Reddy who gets caught in a haunted house to interrogate about a politician whom they suspect of corruption. However, she ends up getting possessed by a spirit.
