Kancheevaram silk saree is one of the most gorgeous wedding silk sarees one can find. They are traditionally made in a small town called Kanchipuram in Tamil Nadu. The Banarasi
These wedding silk sarees are made from some of the finest hand-spun silk and originated in Benaras in Uttar Pradesh. The designs have a great Mughal influence which comes through in the intricate work. These sarees have zari borders with smaller designs throughout. The Banarasi silks can be found with a variety of designs and some are quite contemporary with modern designs.
The Patola
Patola sarees are distinctive with its geometric designs and vibrant colours. They come from the town of Patan in Gujarat. These days Patola silks come in contemporary designs and look good for any occasion, they are light and bright and look very stylish
The Paithani
A traditional woven art that comes from a town called Paithani in Maharashtra, this fine silk saree has a distinguishable peacock motifs pattern in the pallu created in different colours. There is a hint of Buddhist paintings too in these patterns. The bright colours are perfect for the newly married woman.
The Chanderi
Chanderi is a small town situated in Ashoknagar district of Madhya Pradesh. The Chanderi sarees are a blend of silk and cotton making them relatively lightweight. The Chanderi sarees have a unique translucent structure and are very comfortable during the hot summer months.
The Kota
Inspired by the weather of Rajasthan, this net saree is very lightweight and perfect for the dry and hot climate there. The original handloom Kota sarees are the pride of a woman and are becoming very rare to find. However, the polyester versions are gaining more popular in the market as an alternative.
