This is a period film which has been set up in the year 1992 when Hindu fundamentalists bomb the Babri Masjid and a huge riot occurs in Bombay. The couple who with utmost difficulty got married and live together with their parents, go through a twist of incidents where the parents of the couple die in the fire. The story is about religious peace and togetherness which overpowers the love story.
5. Nayakan: The beautiful relationship between Kamal Haasan and Saranya Ponvannan is something we absolutely adore. But, what overpowers that love story is the clash between family and public. A family man turned don, cares more about the people of his area and loses his wife and son. The daughter in agony develops an aversion towards her father and walks away. The beautiful bond Kamal creates with his daughter through all the other struggles he goes through as a Don is very fresh and unique.
6. Kannathil Muthamittal: Apart from the fact that Simran and Madhavan love each other beyond words; and love their adopted daughter, even more, is overpowered by the powerful story background which talks about the everyday struggle of a Srilankan Tamil.
