1)Lemon + Curd:
The acidic nature of Lemon makes it the best remedy for Dandruff. At the same time, curd helps maintain the smoothness of you hair, without making it too dry.
- Mix 2 tablespoons of Curd/Yoghurt with 1 tablespoon of lemon juice.
- Apply onto scalp gently.
- Let it sit for 30 minutes.
- Rinse it off with a mild shampoo.
You can repeat this hair mask once every week for best results. You can add rice water to this mix as well, as it contains selenium, which reduces malassezia, the yeast responsible for dandruff.
2) Neem + Coconut Oil:
Neem is your best friend, not only for dandruff, but for hair growth in general because of its medicinal values. Coconut oil on the other hand, ensures that your hair is conditioned enough.
- Grind 20-30 neem leaves along with some coconut oil.
- Apply the thick paste on your scalp.
- Let it sit for 15-20 minutes.
- Rinse with shampoo.
You can repeat this hair mask twice every week for best results. This mask can also be used for your face if you have dry skin, as Neem is both an anti-inflammatory and anti-septic agent, which helps prevent breakouts.
3) Hibiscus + Fenugreek:
Hibiscus flowers make your hair extremely thick and shiny. Fenugreek helps as a catalyst for good hair growth, and also helps cool down your body. Putting these ingredients together ensures that your hair can be well conditioned, thereby avoiding dandruff altogether.
- Soak 1 tablespoon of fenugreek seeds overnight.
- Later, blend the soaked seeds with 10-12 Hibiscus leaves.
- Apply this mask as a paste, on your scalp.
- Let it sit for 30 minutes.
- Rinse it with a mild shampoo.
Repeat this hair mask once a week for best results. Additionally, you can also add Yoghurt/Curd to this mixture for easier application. Along with the Hibiscus leaves, throw in a few Hibiscus petals to add more luster to your hair.
4) Coconut Oil:
Many of us use Coconut oil for simply oiling and conditioning our hair. However, if the oil is used the right way, it can help get you rid of Dandruff completely.
- Take 3 tablespoons of Coconut oil and heat it until it gets slightly warm.
- Start massaging the oil onto your scalp with your fingertips.
- After massaging for 15 mins, apply the rest of the oil onto your hair.
- Wrap your hair with a warm, steamed towel.
- Let it sit for 30 minutes.
- Rinse it with a mild shampoo.
You can repeat this mask twice a week comfortably, as coconut oil nourishes your hair with every use.
5) Egg + Yoghurt:
Dandruff is majorly caused because of dryness. Egg and Yoghurt act as nourishment and moisture for you hair, that can tackle dandruff.
- Use 2 egg whites (oily hair)/ 2 egg yolks (dry hair)/ 1 whole egg (Normal hair)
- Add these along with 2 tablespoons olive oil, 1 cup yoghurt and 1 tablespoon lemon juice.
- Whisk these ingredients until you get a smooth mixture.
- Apply this mask from hair roots to tips.
- Let it sit for 20 minutes.
- Ensure that you wash of your hair with cold water, with a mild shampoo.
Repeat this mask once a week for best results. Egg is also good for hair growth, so you can grow your hair and get rid of dandruff at the same time.
6) Aloe Vera:
Aloe Vera is known to have antifungal properties, that tend to be the cure for seborrheic dermatitis, a condition that can cause stubborn dandruff. So, using Aloe Vera for mild dandruff can actually help you get rid of it, once and for all.
- Mix 4 tablespoons of Aloe Vera gel with 2 to 3 drops of Eucalyptus Oil, or Tea Tree oil.
- Apply on your scalp entirely, and a little on the tips too.
- Let it sit for 30 minutes to 1 hour.
- Rinse with a cool/lukewarm water and mild shampoo.
This hair mask can be repeated 2 to three times a week. Eucalyptus oil and Tea Tree oil are essential oils that are highly powerful. Please ensure to use it with caution, only a few drops at a time.
