6 Actresses Who Are Great Singers Too!

When acing it in the looks department, these actresses kill it behind the microphone too. Not as flamboyant as most singers, these Indian actresses can hold a tune and sound melodious on a whim. Check out who’s our favourite!

Aditi Rao Hydari

Aditi Rao Hydari recently recorded her first Tamil song with GV Prakash for his film ‘Jail’. The ‘Kaatru Veliyidai’ actress has sung before and is known to have quite a smooth voice. She sang ‘Vaan Varuvaan’ on stage once in addition to the popular ‘Kehna Hai Kya’. A trained singer, in the past, she made her Bollywood singing debut in the Ali Zafar-starrer ‘London Paris New York’.

Keerthy Suresh

Keerthy Suresh, who has wowed the audience with her performance in Mahanati and other films as an actress, turned into a singer this year. The actress lent her voice for Pudhu Metro Rail, which also has vocals by Vikram, for her film Saamy Square directed by Hari. The song, composed by Devi Sri Prasad, is a party kuthhu number of sorts that has been autotuned with the inclusion of dubstep too.

Shruti Haasan

Shruti Haasan is known not just for her films but devotes a lot of time for her musical career too. She first lent her voice for ‘Thevar Magan’, her father’s film. She, later on, sang in other popular films as a child including ‘Hey Ram’ and ‘Chachi 420’. While growing up, she was part of a punk band called The Extramentals. She has since sung in films such as ‘Vaaran Aayiram’, ‘3’, ‘Shamitabh’, ‘Puli’, etc.

Priyanka Chopra

While many knew that PC could sing, no one knew she could sing that phenomenally! Her first single was ‘In My City’ where she sang about India and sang along with The Black Eyed Peas’ will.i.am. She also went on to sing another single, ‘Exotic’ featuring Pitt Bull. That was a hit, too. Chopra collaborated with the Australian DJ Will Sparks for “Young and Free”, an EDM song which she also wrote. It was released last year. She made her on-screen debut with the Tamil film Thamizhan starring along with Vijay. Not only did she act, but she also sang in the film.

Kareena Kapoor

For her fifth Bollywood movie in 2006, Kareena Kapoor sang a song for the film ‘Dev’. She surprised everyone with her surprisingly melodious voice and people couldn’t believe that it was her. She has, however, not sung in any other film after that.

Madonna Sebastian

While most might remember her as Celine from Premam, Madonna’s plans were never really to act in the first place. Since her childhood, Madonna has had a passion for singing. She’s trained in carnatic and western music and has sung on several occasions including Music Mojo of Kappa TV and numerous popular Malayalam music directors and singers.
