5 Most Impressive Performances of Jyothika!

She is gorgeous, she is talented and she is full of class! Ever since her debut in Vaali, Jyothika has carved a niche for herself in Tamil Cinema, a spot nobody else has been able to capture. Jyo has been experimental about her looks and has proven her mettle more than just once. With the new movie Naachiyaar getting critical acclaim for her amazing performance, we at JFW want to take time to look at 5 times Jyo proved she is the queen!

  1. Mozhi

Who else but Jyo can pull out a deaf and mute girl with so much panache?! Mozhi was the first time we saw an avatar of Jyo wherein she proved she didn’t need dialogues to make it big, just her facial expressions. Touted as the Shivaji Ganeshan’s incarnate, jyo’s acting relies heavily on her eyes and her hand gestures. This movie gets a two-handed applause.

2. Kakkha Kakkha

Reel life couple turned husband and wife in real life, it all started with this movie. Suriya as the rugged cop and Jyo as the strong independent urban lady, playing teacher and later falling in love with the protective cop was something all of us can relate to! She was shy during romance, strong during conflicts and displayed every emotion beautifully.

3. Chandramukhi

When Superstar Rajinikanth is in a project it is not a small feat to play antagonist to him especially as a female lead. Her performance was praised so much that Rajini himself was prompted to say he was absolutely shocked and delighted to see how talented Jyo is. Jyo as the scary possessed lady with mental issues was a twist nobody knew was coming!

4. Pachaikili Muthucharam

This remake of the British film Derailed, once again saw Jyo in a negative shade character after Chandramukhi. Playing a con woman who tricks married men into giving money, she showed she can be rough and tough as well as vulnerable. This was one performance that proved what Jyo is made of and that is – Awesomeness!

5. Magalir Mattum

Although the film failed to make a mark at the box-office, the biggest feat of this movie is Jyo’s dedication to making the best of the project given to her. She lost weight drastically and styled herself to an independent older executive producer for TV and as the fiance of Madhavan. Her performance was smooth, flawless and showed age is not an issue anymore when it comes to married heroines in Indian Cinema!
