Apply some apple cider vinegar
Apple cider vinegar is very effective in treating acne. It helps to balance the pH level of the skin and kills off the bacteria that may be causing all the trouble in the first place. Apple cider vinegar is an astringent and helps to dry the excess oil in the skin. However, do not overdo and dry out your skin too much. This could cause the sebaceous glands to overproduce in order to compensate, therefore triggering an outbreak.
Make a cinnamon and honey mask
A cinnamon and honey mask can also work wonders for acne. Cinnamon has antimicrobial properties while honey is a natural antibiotic so the combination of the two helps in keeping the skin free from acne.
Try this easy and effective mask:
- Mix two tablespoons of honey with one teaspoon of cinnamon powder to form a paste
- Apply the mask to your face (or spot treat) and leave on for 10-15 minutes.
- Rinse off completely, and pat your face dry.
Try a buttermilk and oatmeal mask
Make a thick paste of powdered oatmeal and buttermilk and add 2-3 drops of tea tree essential oil to it.Apply this paste on the affected area, leave for about half an hour and then finally wash it off with cold water. Do this remedy once daily until you get positive results.
Usage of homemade astringents to rid yourself of acne
Astringents are mainly used on the skin to penetrate and remove all traces of dirt and oil. Likewise, they contract and tighten the pores; protecting the skin from future blemishes, making the face feel exceptionally clean. This is why those suffering from acne are often advised to use astringents. Individuals who have a combination or oily skin should use astringents daily as a regular part of their beauty regime.
