4 Hairstyles For A Cocktail Evening!

Tresses are a girl’s crowning glory and can completely make or break a look. Sporting a healthy mane styled in a flattering manner is as important as donning the right clothes, to look your ‘divalicious ‘best when you step out.

The bold waves

Shampoo, condition and blow-dry your hair straight. Use a heat protecting spray before blow-drying. Partition your hair the desired way, either from left to right or right to left at the front. Starting from the nape (below your ears), use a tonging or curling machine to curl strands of hair. Curl them inwards and leave them for about 5-6 seconds. When the hair is hot enough remove the machine and move on to the next bunch of hair. You can leave the front untouched. If you want your style to be loud and wild you could open up your hair with a little bit of serum. After your hair is done, use a fixing spray. There are two kinds of fixing sprays: re-shapeable and non re-shapeable. The re-shapeable fixing spray can be used if you want to be able to play with your hair. The other kind is a strong-hold spray after which your hair stays rigid.

The cute fishtail braid

Prepare your hair with the basic shampooing. If you have thick hair you could condition it. Either blow-dry or dry your hair straight. Part your hair straight down the middle and secure a little bit of hair in the front for your fringe. If you prefer the hairdo to be sharp use a comb for the partitioning. If you want it to be tousled use your hands. Pull a thin strand of hair from the outside of the left section. Pull it over the left section and grasp it under the right section in such a way that it goes over the left and comes under the right. Now do the same for the other side: pull a thin strand of hair from the outside of the right and grasp it under the left section. Keep alternating this way until you reach the bottom. Try to use the same thickness throughout or your braid will look uneven. It is better not to use a rubber band for the fishtail as it will get kicked out. Braid the hair completely and back comb the hair at the end. After the fishtail is done you could either pin up your fringe or leave it open.

The classic up-do

You have to prepare your hair for the up-do with a volumizing shampoo so that it does not come loose after a while and then dry your hair. Curl your hair however you would prefer, either tight or loose with a tonging machine. Do not forget to use a heat protecting spray before curling. Use a re-shapeable hairspray when you curl your hair so that it stays tight after you pin it up. After securing some hair at the front for a fringe, pin up the curled strands one by one on one side with a tiny U–pin. Invisible pins are available in the market. U pin, a normal bob pin and invisible pins come in handy for an up-do. Use an ample number so that the up-do stays for long. Make sure the last three rolls of hair cover all the pins used before. You can use accessories in your hair if you want. The up-do looks classy when it is done on the side. The current trend demands it to be lower. However, if you are looking for a red carpet look or want to look taller, you could have it higher up. As far as the front is concerned, if the curls are done, you could keep it messy and pin it up on the side. Or you could make a small quiff and have a bun on top. The best idea would be to have it sleek with a straight fringe. If you do not have a fringe, pin your hair to one side behind the ear. On the other side, you could have a few strands of hair softly falling on your face to frame it. This is recommended for people with high cheekbones. If you have a tiny face, you could put it all up. It is always better to use a strong-hold fixing spray for an up-do as it tends to get looser by the hour.  The spray ensures that the up-do stays put for a minimum of 8 – 10 hours.

The retro Hot-rollers

Hot rollers lend high volume and shine to the hair and make sure curls do not droop easily. Divide your hair into five sections: back into two sections and front into three sections. On the front, the hair from the right eyebrow line to the left eyebrow line can be one section. On either side of that can be the other two sections. Use the big rollers on the front to lend high volume to the front. Use large rollers on the sides too. You could use smaller rollers at the back and if you have many sections, you can gradually go from small to medium to large at the front. Wait for about 15 – 20 minutes before removing the rollers. When you open your hair make sure you curl the roller so that the curls do not droop as soon as they are opened. Wait for about 2 minutes for the hair to cool down to room temperature and then use a little bit of hair spray mixed with shine serum. Open up your hair if you want: bend over and let the hair fall down; use your forefingers to comb through and open the hair slowly. Put your hair back and witness the curls automatically loosen up a little. The hairdo looks voluminous and better when opened up. You could pin up strands of hair if you want. You could also use the hot rollers to do a high bun or a one-sided plait with the curls as the base. Use a re-shapeable spray once you are done.
