10 Times the Hero stole the Fiance

K-Town absolutely loves cliches! I mean who doesn’t especially when it comes to good entertainment? Villains are loaded with money and scantily clad women, sister siblings of heroes always end up in tragic fates and heroes most likely never give up on making the heroine theirs even if she is engaged to someone else; an age-old concept! Here’s taking a look at the list of films that had the hero sweep the girl off her feet right underneath her betrothed!

  1. Minnale – The mother of all movies on taking away the engaged is Maddy’s very own Minnale. I mean who can say no to this actor with a million dollar smile? We could totally empathize with Reema sen when she left her fiance for this handsome hunk. What was the best part of the movie was Abbas himself played the role of a nice fiance not wanting to pressurize Reema into marrying him. It was pretty much hard to choose between the two but her mind was set! This one takes the cake for two cute guys and one pretty plot!

2. Although Shaheen Khan’s character is not engaged initially, we were quite surprised when she flat out told Vijay a ‘No, I don’t believe in love marriage’ line. Although we believed Vijay’s character will force her to rethink, he left it to her choice till the end unwavering from his commitment to her. Finally, Shaheen’s character understood her betrothed was not worth her in any way and left him for a happy ending with Vijay.

3. The sensation of the screen back then was Trisha and when she was paired with Ulaganayaga we knew we won’t be disappointed. When Madhavan was revealed to be the fiance we were more than surprised at the character’s jealous shade. True to its form, the jealousy pushed Trisha right into the arms of another guy and in this case, Kamal!

4. Remo – This one was one big turner! Although Keerthi’s character in the movie was engaged seriously and she was absolutely opposed to the idea of love and love marriage, Sivakarthikeyan’s character pursued harder and harder till the whole movie was just one big plot to convince someone to marry. Is someone in love so bad or is that a bit too much?

5. Yaaradi Nee Mohini – Now Dhanush’s character did not know Nayanthara’s character is already engaged so we can give him credit. He immediately backed out as soon as he knew the girl was to marry his close friend. Grieving from his father’s death, Dhanush’s character become reclusive when it is the heroine herself who starts pursuing him back! This one we can sympathize.

6. Mayakkam Enna – The heroine in this one isn’t engaged but was the serious girlfriend of a friend when the hero character played by Dhanush spots her. Later they even go on to marry and how the husband and wife chemistry work is the crux of this film. When it was revealed that Richa’s character had fallen for Dhanush’s character the group of friends were not only shocked but so were we!

7. Winner –  Although Kiran’s character gets engaged after she falls in love with Prashanth’s character this hilarious films with the equal amount of fight sequences was one big entertainer! Vadivelu became the highlight of this comedy-drama film and who can forget Varuthapadadha Valibar Sangam?

8. Vallavan – First Simbu’s character lies and then lies again and then hides things from the past. It was easy for anyone to see that Nayanthara’s character was not happy with the engagement and she did mostly to anger Simbu. This movie was double special for fans as it portrayed the real relationship of Simbu and Nayanthara that time and it was no wonder it became a blockbuster!

9. Nala Damayanthi – Although it was a fake marriage for a green card, Madhavan’s lovable character soon makes Geethu Mohandas’s character fall head over heels for him. As said before who can say no to Madhavan, which is why he is on this list again!

10. Kadhal Mannan – Last but not least, Kadhal Mannan, the best of all movies when it comes to stealing the fiance right under the villain, in this case, Karan’s nose. Ajith’s lovable portrayal floors the heroine and even though there are super strict house and a household that does not allow love at all, the movie ends on a happy note. This is the best of the list no doubt!
