“You are fat, you cannot be an actress”: Majima Mohan Was BodyShamed!

Shameful!

After a creamy debut in Kollywood, one would think Manjima Mohan must have had it easy to enter films. The former child artist was born and brought up in God’s own country, she’s no stranger to camera, lights and action. Manjima Mohan was 3-years-old when she first faced the camera. Born to a successful and popular cinematographer, Vipin Mohan, Manjima followed her father’s steps and landed into the glamorous world of cinema.

However, she was once bodyshamed and humiliated for her weight. In a JFW Exclusive, she says,”That was the first rejection I had faced and it was very tough for me. Before that people have asked me to lose some weight and I was used to it. But it was very painful when someone looked into my face and said “You are fat, you cannot be an actress”. Especially for a newcomer like me it was very discouraging. But then I got over it and I felt fine being in my own skin. I used to be very arrogant to such statements initially, however Gautham sir used to talk me out of it and he gave me confidence that I was fine and I don’t have to lose weight. ”

The young actress has now shut her critics with an impressive debut and millions of fans! For 2017, Manjima has two releases, Sathriyan and Ippadai Vellum!
