Directed by Mani Ratnam, the movie stars Kamal Haasan as a gangster who fights against the injustice done to the Tamil community in Mumbai. He is considered as the Robin-hood of the community. The film is loosely based on the cult gangster drama, The Godfather. The movie is one of the few Indian movies that made to the list of 100 must watch movies in the Time’s list.
2023 has been a year of blockbuster massy films, but the true winners this year are movies like these, narratives that leave an impact, and emotions so raw and real, that you are instantly connected.
At 2 hours and 45 minutes, the film did seem dragged in the second half, but at the same time, it’s packed with twists and turns and unexpected revelations.
