The Telugu TV Anchor Sambhashiva Rao of TV5 news, during a show, had asked Actor Posani Murali Krishna if there weren’t any ‘Whores’ or ‘brokers’ in the Film Industry. This comment became controversial and many actresses had condemned it. Despite the Anchor’s Apology on March 23rd, the Movie Artists Association (MAA) had called for a press meet where the leading actresses and actors of Telugu Industry spoke about the incident.
Actress Rakul Preet Singh said,” It’s disgraceful. When I first saw the video, I didn’t believe it…if something like this had happened in the channel. I wondered if someone had sent a forward just to create controversy.” She also added that “But everything has become about TRPs now. Just imagine, from the actor’s point of view, my parents don’t know Telugu, but if they understood that news, what will they think? They’ll think this is the industry I’m working in.”
Along with her, Manju Lakshmi, daughter of veteran actor Mohan Babu had also commented on the issue. She talked about clickbait journalism and how some people in the media are using the actresses to make money. “Why is that man not sacked already?” she questioned the people who were present there.
They were many other actor and actresses who took part in the press meet and stood up against the controversial comment against them.
