Sridevi And SS Rajamouli Are Back To Being Friends!

Sridevi and Rajamouli patch up.

A lot was said and done when the news of Sridevi rejecting the role of ‘Rajamatha Sivagami Devi’ in the Magnum Opus Bahubali directed by SS Rajamouli. The reason will shock you more. Sridevi turned down the role because her demand for the movie was Rs. 6 Crores and Rajamouli said that will not be providing her with that much. Rajamouli was not happy. He then approached Ramya Krishnan. Ramya gave a powerful performance and was lauded by everyone for her acting as Rajmata Sivagami. And the rest, as they say, is history. Sridevi instead chose the Tamil movie ‘Puli’ starring Ilayathalapathy Vijay Hansika Motwani and Shruti Haasan. The movie turned out to be a huge flop and bombed at the box-office.

And the rest, as they say, is history. Sridevi instead chose the Tamil movie ‘Puli’ starring Ilayathalapathy Vijay Hansika Motwani and Shruti Haasan. The movie turned out to be a huge flop and bombed at the box-office.

When asked about the issue, Rajamouli agreed to the rumors and in fact said that the actress demanded a whopping 8 crores for the role. However, Boney Kapoor (Sridevi’s husband) manages the transactions and demands fees on behalf of her and hence the actress was completely unaware of it. After this realization, the director now hopes that he could cast Sridevi in his next film which will be produced in Andhra Pradesh. Rajamouli has planned to give Sridevi a role she has never played before.

This will not be a costume film though. It will be subject to extreme sensitivity. Sridevi has also nodded that she is game for the challenge. “I don’t hold any grudges and I don’t even believe he can talk like that. What is in the past, is in the past. The roles I don’t play are irrelevant to me. It is more important for me to find new challenging roles like MOM. I look forward to more characters that I haven’t played before.”

We are excited to see if the two actually come together for another magnum opus!
