“The pathetic state of Bharatanatyam at the UN” was all the absolutely shocked Anita Ratnam could say after watching Aishwarya R Dhanush’s performance. The daughter of superstar Rajinikanth was invited to perform one of India’s most proud dances – Bharatnatyam at the prestigious United Nations headquarters. Anita Ratnam, the world renowned global Bharatnatyam dancer, watching the performance said:

“Horrific moment for Bharatanatyam.Part time hobbyist dancer and star daughter Aishwarya Rajnikant steps onto the UN stage. What a letdown after Sudharani Raghupathy’s stunning performance in 1981 for Human Rights Day in the presence of Sec Gen Thant and Under Sec Gen CV Narasimhan. On that day Sudharani performed the hymn ‘AAKAASHAAT PATITAM TOYAM’ ‘YATHAGACCATI SAGARAM’and our complacent dance community claims BHARATANATYAM’S GLOBAL FACE IS NOT BROKEN! Who makes these godawful selections??? Of course the majority response will be: WHO CARES???”

She further said in another post, “THIS IS WHAT BHARATANATYAM BECOMES… A CARICATURE AND A FARCE!”
