On June 1, drama unfolded in Rajapalayam after Senthil* from Vellore tied a ‘thaali’ around his brother, Murugan’s* fiancee (around her neck). Everything was going just fine in Bala Murugan Temple, Illyamapatti, when Murugan and his 20-year-old bride were getting ready for their marriage. However, just minutes before Murugan tied the ‘thaali’, his brother, Senthil pushed him away and tied it instead.

Apparently, Senthil and the 20-year-old damsel were in a relationship for the past few months. They had met in Rajapalayam when both their families had met to arrange the wedding for Murugan and the girl.

After the strange incident at the wedding, Senthil was beaten up by the girl’s family. Only after a long, heated argument, the girl’s family got to know of their previous relationship. It seems that the bride refused to remove her ‘thaali’.

The woman refused to marry anybody else and did not want her thaali to be removed. However, her family took her home and forced her to remove it. In the end, the woman was left with nobody, as Senthil refused to accept her after her ‘thaali’ has been removed and Murugan left the marriage venue, hurt by the circumstances.
