New Updates From Dhanush’s Next!

The actor is ready to sit in the director’s chair again!

Actor Dhanush is all set to start work on his next directorial venture. According to reports, Dhanush will start shooting for his second directorial by August, soon after he wraps up Maari 2.

Having made his directorial debut last year with the comedy-drama Pa Paandi, Dhanush’s next is said to be a period romantic drama for which he has been in talks with actors from various industries including Kannada, Malayalam, and Telugu. While the official announcement is awaited, the film will be with Sri Thenandal Films.

It was announced last year that Dhanush would get back to directing, with reports speculating that it would feature portions set in the pre-Independence era. The story is a complete contrast from his first directorial, about an old man who goes on a journey of self-discovery when he reconnects with his girlfriend from his younger days. The film starred Raj Kiran in the lead with Revathi as his ex-girlfriend, Prasanna as his son, Dhanush as the younger version of himself, and a special appearance by Madonna Sebastian.

Meanwhile, in the work front, Dhanush has a number of films in the pipeline including his first ever Hollywood venture. The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir, directed by Ken Scott, features the Tamil actor playing the role of Ajatashatru Lavash Patel. The film is based on the book –  The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir Who Got Trapped in an Ikea Wardrobe – by Romain Puertolas. The film had its premiere at the recent Cannes Film Festival and is set for a release in India by May 30.

His other films are Vada Chennai with Vetrimaaran, Maari 2 with Balaji Mohan, and Enai Noki Paayum Thota with Gautham Menon. As a producer, he has Kaala in the pipeline. Directed by Pa Ranjith, the film stars Rajinikanth, Samuthirakani, Nana Patekar, Huma Qureshi, Eswari Rao, and many others.
