The Swachh Bharat Campaign was initiated by the present government to bring awareness among people about keeping their homes and towns clean. The government took to extensive campaign to promote cleanliness among Indian people. Prime Minister Narendra Modi nominated a number of celebrities to take up the initiative on his behalf. Indian celebrities were more than happy to use their star status to bring awareness in people. Most Bollywood celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Salman Khan and sports stars Sania Mirza, Sachin Tendulkar all took to the streets to clean a particular area or street.
The recent celebrity to join the bandwagon is Kangana Ranaut who appears in the Swachh Bharat advertisement as goddess Lakshmi. The ad shows goddess Lakshmi disappearing from places where there is uncleanliness. Kangana then appears as Lakshmi leaving in a bike. The voice over says that Goddess Lakshmi will be only be present where there is cleanliness. This ad has grabbed eyeballs and is trending in social media. A great concept and attempt to reach the Swachh initiative!
