Keerthy Suresh has proved her mettle as an actress in the recently released Savitri biopic Mahanati (Nadigaiyar Thilagam in Tamil) where the actress played the late superstar with such grace. With critics and audience lauding her performance, it’s clear that the actress has finally shed her cute-girl image and has embraced a more mature persona on screen. A deleted scene from the film was recently released and pretty much proves that Keerthy is all about the character she takes up!

The scene features her as Savitri and Dulquer Salmaan as Gemini Ganesan in character from their film Missiamma. A scene that’s basically a film within a film, the two play lovers who sing under the moonlight, the song being the iconic ‘Vaarayo Vennilave’.

“Since we had to have a reasonable run time a lot of lovely footage had to be edited out. But with the convenience of the internet releasing some of the deleted scenes!!” shared Dulquer Salmaan.

Directed by Nag Ashwin, Mahanati also stars Samantha Akkineni and Vijay Deverakonda in key roles – with the former playing a journalist and the latter a photographer accompanying her. Apart from them, the film’s cast also includes Naga Chaitanya, Prakash Raj, Shalini Pandey, Krish, Mohan Babu, and others, with music by Mickey J Meyer and cinematography by Dani Sanchez-Lopez.

Recently, the makers had released the making video of Samantha’s character Madhuravani. Usually used to playing glamorous roles, Samantha’s transformation into a meek, plain Jane writer was much appreciated, with her character responsible for driving the force in the film.
