Here’s What Kamal Haasan Had To Say About Mohanlal & AMMA

This might stir a debate!

Upcoming politician, actor and filmmaker, Kamal Haasan, had reportedly criticised Mohanlal and the AMMA (Association of Malayalam Movie Actors). Mohanlal was under fire recently soon after assuming office as president of the association, actor Dileep’s suspension was revoked. Dileep was one of the prime accused in the abduction and assault of a Malayalam actress last year. His membership was revoked soon after he was named as the one who had orchestrated the whole incident.

Haasan said that while Mohanlal is a good friend, it doesn’t stop him from criticising Mohanlal’s moves. He also further added that male actors’ mindset needs to change and they should accept gender equality.

Haasan is currently the leader of his party, Makkal Needhi Maiam, and also has a few films in the pipeline. Vishwaroopam 2 will release this August and he will soon start work on two of his other projects, Indian 2 and Sabhash Naidu. He is currently the host of Vijay TV’s reality show Bigg Boss’ second season.

As for the whole furore around AMMA, Mohanlal took charge as the president in June with actor-politician Mukesh elected as the vice-president of the association, and Idavela Babu replaced Mammootty as general secretary. Actors Siddique and Jagadish have been elected as joint secretary and treasurer respectively.

One of the first decisions the new leadership took was to revoke the suspension of actor Dileep. This left the Women in Cinema Collective (WCC) seething and fuming, with them posing questions with respect to the abduction and sexual assault case of the Malayalam actress.
