Here’s What Anirudh Ravichander Has To Say About The ‘Kalyaana Vayasu’ Controversy!

OMG!

The week began with several social media users pointing out that ‘Kalyaana Vayasu’, a catchy song from Nayanthara’s next film Kolamaavu Kokila, has been copied by Anirudh Ravichander from another artist. It was alleged that the song has been copied from a hip-hop/rap number Don’t Lie’ by Sannan, which was released on YouTube last month and has a little over 7,000 views. Upon listening to the two, the similarity is fairly uncanny, with the beats and background score almost identical.

With ‘Kalyaana Vayasu’ clocking in six million views within days, Anirudh has clarified on all those copying allegations. “For the lack of awareness, I work with a lot of music producers worldwide and this beat is licensed from @beatsbymantra,” he wrote on Twitter.

The song, with lyrics penned by Sivakarthikeyan, features Yogi Babu’s character madly in love with the Nayanthara’s character. He watches her while she walks away and rues that he only wants to marry her and that he will wait for her. The video features him following her everywhere, imitating her actions, and profess his love for her in silence.

The film is said to be a woman-centric one featuring the actress as a drug peddler directed by Nelson David. Reports suggest that the film is inspired by the American TV show Breaking Bad, but the makers have clarified in the past that is about an ordinary woman who finds herself in an unexpected situation.

On the work front, Nayanthara has a slew of films lined up, including director Siva’s Viswasam with Ajith Kumar, and Chiranjeevi’s period drama Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy. She also has one with filmmaker KM Sarjun, and Imaikka Nodigal with R Ajay Gnanamuthu. Aramm 2, the sequel to the political drama from last year featuring Nayanthara in the lead, will also go on floors soon.

She also a has project with her Velaikkaran co-star Sivakarthikeyan in the pipeline. The yet-to-be-titled project is being bankrolled by KE Gnanavel Raja’s Studio Green. The film will be directed by Rajesh with whom Nayanthara worked in Boss Engira Bhaskaran.
