Taking to Facebook, Rakul wrote about how she had finally watched the film and called it a ‘masterpiece’, congratulating the entire team for bringing yesteryear actress Savitri alive on screen. She went on to mention lead actress Keerthy, Samantha Akkineni, and Vijay Deverakonda, but didn’t mention Dulquer Salmaan, who played Gemini Ganesan in the biopic, regarded as an extended cameo.

The post had more angry reactions. Fans were annoyed that she took time out to mention everybody but him! These are some of the responses:

Directed by Nag Ashwin, the biopic has garnered positive reviews from critics and fans alike. Late actress Savitri is played by Keerthy Suresh while Dulquer Salmaan plays Gemini Ganesan, her co-star and husband. Mahanati also stars Samantha Akkineni and Vijay Deverakonda in key roles – with the former playing a journalist and the latter a photographer accompanying her. Apart from them, the film’s cast also includes Naga Chaitanya, Prakash Raj, Shalini Pandey, Krish, Mohan Babu, and others, with music by Mickey J Meyer and cinematography by Dani Sanchez-Lopez.
