This 11 minute video, a tribute to Chennai’s spirit is truly a heart warming one! Chennai has always been known for it’s kind nature but it was proved when the world turned towards Chennai when it was hit by one of the most devastating floods in recent times. Actor Vikram has now honored the city’s spirit by making a video starring many South Indian stars. Vikram has donned the director’s hat for the first time for a cause that has really touched him. The actor says the December floods was one of the saddest and debilitating event that the world has seen, it left the entire city stranded without food, water and shelter and nearly 400 people died. But what made the world turn and see was not the calamity itself but the spirit of Chennai, that rose to fight back and save itself. This inspired him to make an anthem as a tribute to the spirit and love of Chennai city.
The actor has roped in many celebrities to feature in this anthem including Abhishek Bachchan (Co-Owner of Chennaiyin FC and Vikram’s co-star in Ravan) Prabhu Deva, Varalakshmi Sarathkumar, Suriya, Karthi, Nayanthara, Siddharth, Vijay Sethupathi, Nithya Menon, Bobby Simha, Amala Paul, Mumtaz, Khushbu, Siva Karthikeyan, Jayam Ravi, Jiiva, Nivin Pauly, Prithviraj among others. Vikram says this song is his way of saying Thank You to Chennai as it had made him believe in ‘Humanity’ and also for making him a better person.
