“Both My Boys Are Talented And Have The Potential: Amala Akkineni!

Amala is a doting mother!

We still remember her acrobatics in the songs “Roja Poo” from Agni Natchathiram and “Maanin Iru Kangal” from Mappillai.  Making her way into the film industry with the film “Mythili Ennai Kaathali” (1986) where she proved her mettle as a sound Bharatnatyam dancer, Amala was cast in 8 other movies in the same year. In an era that was filled with talented heroines who were all performers in their own right, she rose as a star, giving back to back hits through the 80’s (and early 90’s), becoming a household name in the industry who people came to adore and love.  She was one of the very few actresses who was also equally successful in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam film industries, with a few Bollywood titles to her credit.

She married Telugu Superstar Nagarjuna who she starred with her in two hit films “Siva” and “Nirnayam”. Today, when we think of animal welfare, Amala is the first name that comes to all our minds. A passionate animal lover, she has been a welfare activist for animals and is also the co-founder of Blue Cross, Hyderabad. A successful artist back in the day, a doting wife and mother now and an ardent animal lover and philanthropist, she has added one more feather to her cap by becoming the Honorary Director of Annapurna International School of Film and Media. Her smile, ever so charming, takes us back through a nostalgic trip to the 80’s. Sweet and understated, she hasn’t changed a bit and still remains the girl-next-door who her fans fell in love with.

She is undoubtedly a wonderful mother, but as Akhil is set to make his debut in Tollywood, she like any mother has the first time jitters. “I am very excited for him. He is extremely passionate about what he does. Not only Akhil but Chay too. Both the boys are talented and have the potential, else
we wouldn’t have encouraged them. However, in show biz, the audience has the ultimate say. If they love him nobody can stop him. So, how the audience would receive Akhil is something that we have to wait and watch. But it’s definitely a huge and exciting year.”
