It came as a shocker when AR Rahman’s concert was hated by many in the UK followed by a massive walkout which was quite unnecessary. The concert which was named ‘Netru Indru Nalai’ – which basically in Tamil. While ARR sang 20 Tamil songs and 12 Hindi songs, the crowd got quite intolerant about the Tamil songs and decided to walk out of it. Many since then tweeted about the disappointment they had on hearing Tamil songs and went to an extent of requesting for a refund.
This did not go well with people in South India – many condemned the boycotters for their petty behavior. From singers Srinivas to Chinmayi, everyone went against these so-called “fans” who demanded a refund.
However, AR Rahman kept mum about the entire situation. NDTV lately got a chance to talk to him while he was in New York for IIFA 2017 where everyone enjoyed his songs in Tamil. To this issue, the legend responded, “We try our best. We try to be honest. I love the way how people have supported for all these years without them I’m nothing. I’m grateful to all of them.”
According to reports, Rahman’s performance at IIFA that took place in New York City was very much enjoyed and his ‘Urvashi Urvashi’ song was sung once more on audience recommendation. The awards night also celebrated 25 years of the legendary musician into the film industry.
