All The Indian Stars Who Rocked The Cannes Red Carpet!

Big win for fashion!

The 71st Cannes Film Festival’s association with India dates back to the 70s. While it began with the intention of premiering new films and honouring its makers, the festival is now known for the high fashion quotient celebrities put forth. From Kangana Ranaut going vintage to Dhanush’s simple yet elegant style, these are our favourite looks so far from all the Indian stars currently at the French Riviera town!

Kangana Ranaut

The actress went full glam for her Cannes debut! Representing the brand Grey Goose, Kangana wore a shimmery black vintage saree designed by Sabyasachi Mukherjee.

The saree is hand-dyed and embellished with hand-cut sequins that are individually sewn using zardosi technique, to create a metallic, yet fluid fabric. Her look is accessorised with a Sabyasachi batua and the ‘teenmaniya’ necklace, crafted out of rose-cut diamonds, Colombian emeralds and basra pearls from the Sabyasachi Heritage Jewelry Collection. Huma Qureshi

As a brand ambassador for Grey Goose, Huma Qureshi is at the festival long after her film Gangs of Wasseypur was once screened there. She, too, didn’t stop herself from experimenting a bit with fashion.

For Day 1 of the festival, she wore this elegant Varun Bahl creation and kept it simple with her make-up and jewellery.

While at the red carpet, she wore a brown colour with metallic finish designed by Nikhil Thampi. She kept her hair slicked back and kept her accessories minimal so as to not take the focus away from the edgy-ness of the dress!

Deepika Padukone

Soon after her Met Gala appearance in a fiery red Prabal Gurung gown, Deepika Padukone headed for Cannes, and, as always, she impressed us all.

It was also evident that Deepika really likes butterflies considering all her dresses were flowing ones with so much grace. Representing brand L’Oreal, Deepika wore a lovely Zuhair Murad gown with all things shiny and glittery all over it.

And while she kept it casual at the other events…

She turned a lot of heads at Palais for the premiere of Ash is Purest White. Her ruffled pink dress is a Ashi Studio creation.

Dhanush

It’s impossible to single out Dhanush, who is at Cannes for the premiere of his first ever international project The Extraordinary Journey Of The Fakir. Directed by the Canadian filmmaker Ken Scott, the movie will see actors from different film industries and cultures including Berenice Bejo, Barkhad Abdi, Erin Moriarty and Abel Jafri.

The actor kept it classy dressed in a black suit and later in a cream and white one with his team.
