One of Bollywood’s leading ladies, she is from a Tulu speaking Bunt family in Mangalore, Karnataka. She won the Miss World Pageant in 1994 and there has been no turning back since then. Not many know this, but Aishwarya Rai made her debut in the Tamil film Iruvar which had Malayalam superstar Mohanlal and Prakash Raj in lead roles. The film was directed by ace director Mani Ratnam. She was recognized by Bollywood after she did Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam opposite Salman Khan.
Deepika is one of the highest paid actresses in Bollywood, she was born in Copenhagen and raised in Karnataka’s capital Bengaluru. She is daughter of famous badminton player, Prakash Padukone. Deepika is also a professional badminton player but left the sport to pursue modelling. It’s a lesser known fact that Deepika made her debut in the Kannada movie Aishwarya in 2006. But her first hit in Bollywood was Om Shanti Om opposite Shah Rukh Khan in 2007. Farah Khan, the director of the movie spotted her from her modelling career.
Vidya Balan is from Palakkad in Kerala, with a Tamilian descent (Palakkad borders Tamil Nadu and Kerala). But she grew up in Mumbai and studied sociology in the prestigious St. Xavier’s College. She made her acing debut in Hum Paanch and went on do do movies like No One Killed Jessica, Dirty Picture and Kahaani.
Asin was born and brought up in Kochi, Kerala. She made her entry into films with the Malayalam movie called, Narendran Makan Jayakanthan Vaka in 2001. Iron lady of Bollywood, Tabu is from Hyderabad. She moved to Mumbai to pursue her studies in St. Xavier’s College. She made her debut with the Telugu film Coolie No.1 opposite megastar Venkatesh. Her first successful film in Bollywood was Vijaypath starring Ajay Devgan. Rekha is the daughter of popular Tamil actor, Gemini Ganesan. She was born in Chennai and studied in the prestigious Church Park Convent in Chennai. She made her debut in the Kannada movie Operation Jackpot Nalli CID 999 with megastar Rajkumar. In 1970 she made her Bollywood debut with Sawan Bhadon which made her an overnight star.
