Once the most happening couple of Bollywood had a very bitter and public break up! They started dating during the shooting of ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’ in 1999. In 2002, Aishwarya gave a statement saying that they had broken up in 2001 and Salman was not able to come to terms with it. Salman reportedly used to create ruckus at Aishwarya’s shooting spots. She said, “After we broke up, he would call me and talk rubbish. He also suspected me of having affairs with my co-stars. I was linked with everyone, from Abhishek Bachchan to Shahrukh Khan. There were times when Salman got physical with me, luckily without leaving any marks. And I would go to work as if nothing had happened.” Aishwarya claimed of physical and mental abuse by Salman and that was the reason for their break up.
PRABHUDEVA & NAYANTHARA
This was one of the biggest scandals of South Cinema. The duo started dating when Prabhudeva directed the movie Villu in 2009 with Nayanthara and Vijay in the lead. At the time when rumors were ripe about their affair, Prabhudeva’s son Vishal died due to cancer. After this he decided to marry Nayanthara and went public and told the media he was in love with her. Hearing this, his wife Latha created a ruckus by denying divorce and going public about the relationship. She even filed a case in court against his marriage with Nayanthara. Finally, Prabhu had to pay lots of money, give away his houses and cars to his wife to get divorced. By this time, all was not well within Nayan and Prabhu, reports were pouring saying that Nayanthara was not happy with Prabhu meeting his kids secretly without her knowledge and that she was scared he might go back to his wife. Nayanthara had declined nearly 6-7 films in that period as she had planned to settle down after her marriage with Prabhudeva.
RANBIR KAPOOR & DEEPIKA PADUKONE
Another huge scandal was the love story of Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone. Their relationship is easily the most talked about in recent times. Their relationship was going strong and Deepika even got his initials tattooed on her neck. After being together for three years the couple called it quits. Deepika on numerous occasions had made remarks about Ranbir’s Casanova image. She said, “When I am in a relationship, I give it my all. I am totally committed and devoted. Somehow in all my relationships, it has been the guy who has strayed. You can ignore something if it happens once, but if it keeps happening, you have to realize that something is wrong.” The break up turned ugly when Deepika said that Ranbir should endorse a condom brand when she appeared in Koffee with Karan show. Now all is well between the two, as they do movies together without the past coming their way.
RANA DAGGUBATI & TRISHA
Rana and Trisha have always maintained their relationship under wraps and away from the media glare. There has been rumors of them breaking up due to Rana’s association with other women. It was also said Rana’s family was not happy with their relationship and it will never happen between them. The break up got confirmed when suddenly Trisha got engaged to producer Varun Manian. All was not well between Varun and Trisha and she called off the engagement. It was also said that she broke up with Varun because she still had a chance with Rana as it finally looked like his family was going to approve her. Their relationship still seems to be on and off but we can’t confirm anything here.
PREITY ZINDA & NESS WADIA
This one too was a ugly public break up. Preity Zinda had been dating businessman, Ness Wadia for 5 years. They even co-owned Preity’s IPL team, King XI Punjab. The controversy began when she filed a case against Wadia for threatening her during a IPL match. She said, “Ness intimidated me by saying he could make me disappear as I was a nobody and only an actress and he’s a powerful person…this before-stated incident in Mumbai in the Wankhede Stadium has left me shattered and fear for my life.” The two broke up after this and now she recently got married to Gene Goodenough and is in Los Angeles.
