Our skin is the first thing we notice when we look in the mirror each morning. Finding a blemish is tantamount to starting the day on a bad note. There are several basic things we can do to ensure that our skin is in good condition – sleep regular hours, eat non-oily food, drink plenty of water – but sometimes, we need a little extra help. Face packs are the perfect way to enhance your skin and give it that exhilarating summer glow.
STRIVING FOR NORMALCY
Clay or kaolin powder is a common ingredient in face packs. It is known to possess rejuvenating and balancing qualities – working equally well on oily and dry skin. All the other ingredients in the face packs are natural and can be easily acquired; making these mixes the perfect do-it-at-home activity.
‘Normal skin’ is a termed used to describe those lucky individuals who are in the middle of the spectrum, with skin that is neither too oily nor too dry. Conversely, those with normal skin often experience more problems finding packs that suit them. This is because their skin related issues are usually very specific. Here is a simple facemask recipe that refreshes and hydrates your skin.
1/3 cup clay
1 beaten egg white
Mix the clay, cornflower and oats together to form a mixture, and then carefully add the beaten egg white to form a paste. Add the floral water. Once the paste is smooth, add 1 drop of the germanium oil and 1 drop of the neroli oil. Mix it well and then apply as a paste on the skin.
Dry skin can be a huge problem, especially in dry and cool weather. Avoiding flaky and scale-like skin is difficult, even in warm climates. Here is an all natural face mask that will both moisturize and tighten your skin, making it a pleasure to look at.
1 ½ tbsp. of honey
1 egg white
2 tsp. of glycerine
1/3 cup flour
Whisk the honey, egg white and glycerine together to form a paste. Then add the flour to the mixture. Ensure that the paste is smooth before applying on the face. Leave on for 15 minutes and then remove for smooth skin.
Oily skin can lead to facial blemishes and an accumulation of dirt. A good way to prep your skin for a facial pack is to wash it with lukewarm water, opening the pores of your skin and rinsing away the excess oil. To close up the pores, you can wash your face with cold water. This facial pack will help balance the oils in your skin, and will ensure that your skin does not become too dry.
– ½ an apple
– 1 tbsp lime juice
– 2 tbsp sour cream
Cut and blend the apple until it is relatively smooth, add the lime juice into the mix. Afterwards, add the sour cream and stir until the paste is thicker. Once the paste has been mixed, apply on the face and leave in for 10 minutes. To remove, avoid using soap and wash off with lukewarm water. Rinse once again with cold water.
