Priyanka Gurav, 24, who was found missing since 5th of May, was found beheaded in Mumbai. A week later her head was discovered wrapped in a plastic bag and a bed sheet in a forest near Shahapur-Nashik Road in the eastern suburb of Thane. Her torso was later discovered in a drain in Navi Mumbai, 50 kms from where she used to live on May 13. She was identified by her sister due to Lord Ganesh with an om symbol tattoo on her shoulder.

Her in-laws and husband, Siddesh Gurav who Priyanka lived with, were arrested for her murder. They were arrested not only for her murder but also for destroying the evidence involved. Along with Priyanka’s family, two men who helped dispose of the body parts were also arrested. A police officer told NDTV, “We arrested an accused involved in dumping the body and he took our team to the spot where the head was dumped in a plastic bag. The head was wrapped in a bed sheet and plastic bags.”

Priyanka was a B.com graduate and only married for five days before she went missing on May 5th. According to reports, the police were quoted saying the possible motive for the murder could be that Siddesh Gurav was pressurized to marry her. Their top priority is to find out the vehicle used to transport the body parts. The missing vehicle can yield important evidence useful to solve the crime.
